It was a much needed date night for the hubs and I. A chance to see Tuck Everlasting on Broadway thanks to TheMoms! Julio and I had never seen a musical on Broadway before so we were both really looking forward to it.
We waited patiently on line along with so many eager people, young and old. The excitement was felt all around us!
The theater was warm and welcoming. We made our way straight to our seats, purchased some snacks and made ourselves comfortable. The lights were dim and the show began. I don’t think there is anything better than a story being told live and right in front of you. The set, the songs, the cast…it was all just so wonderful.
It was my first play…yes. What could I possibly know?! Well, I know you don’t need experience to know when something is astounding and unforgettable. Tuck Everlasting was amazingly unforgettable. I don’t want to give too much away. One of the most important lessons I learned was “Don’t be afraid of death; be afraid of an unloved life. You don’t have to love forever, you just have to live”- Natalie Babbit (author of book Tuck Everlasting)
I have experienced the loss of my brother and grandmother, two very important people in my life, and it’s just something that’s weighed heavy in my heart and mind. For the first time in a long time I felt a calm in my heart. Until you experience the loss of a loved one, you can’t comprehend how much it changes you and those also affected. I felt the play captured it all so gently and beautifully. Would you want immortality? Would you want immortality for all those you love? Tuck Everlasting delivered a powerful message about death, life, love and family! I laughed…and I cried! I’m so grateful for the experience and even more so, that I got to experience it with my love, my husband!
After it was over, some fellow bloggers and I had the opportunity to meet the cast for a Q&A. They were so kind and welcoming to us and were eager to answer our questions. I don’t know if they realize what an impact they had on us and I imagine anyone who goes to see their show. I highly recommend it, bring your family!
